RESPA UPDATE

HUD didn't give us any new surprises over the Christmas Weekend. As reported previously, HUD has sent a final rule to the Federal Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for analysis. OMB has up to 90 days to review the rule prior to the rule going into effect. HUD has released nothing to indicate what form this final rule will take.

Be assured, we'll let you know as soon as news breaks. If you want to bring yourself back up to speed, check out our RESPA Reform page.

UPDATED 1003 STARTS JANUARY 2004

You may remember from our December 2 Newsletter that Fannie Mae is revising form 1003 for the New Year. Be sure to heed the notices from lenders regarding this requirement. There is no grace period for this change.

The President of the National Association of Mortgage Brokers (NAMB) will be our guest speaker at the February monthly meeting. Mr. Pickel will bring us up to date on the Federal issues that affect our mortgage industry, including an update on the status of HUD RESPA Reform and what changes we can expect.

Prior to the meeting, the Department of Financial Services will conduct a seminar on preparing for an audit. Get 3 hours of continuing education and keep your self in compliance.
