MARTINEZ OFFERS PARTING SALVO TO RESPA REFORM
|
If you don't know it already, recently Retired Secretary of HUD, Mel Martinez paved the way for the issuance of a final rule on RESPA Reform. HUD sent the final rule to the Office of Management and Budget on December 17. The final rule comes almost a year and a half after the proposed rule was published in July 2002. It has likely undergone significant change since them, but HUD has remained tight-lipped about the exact form of the final rule.
To answer that question, the mortgage industry must now look to Deputy Secretary Alphonso Jackson, who was recently nominated to replace Martinez. For those who want to update themselves on what this rule is and what it means, check out the Central Florida FAMB HUD page.
