NAMB's Government Affairs Chair

When NAMB Government Affairs Chair Joe Falk speaks to the Central Florida Chapter of FAMB on Tuesday night, he knows what he's talking about. During his service to NAMB as a board member, Government Affairs Chair and President, he has testified before Congress and HUD dozens of times and has lobbied tirelessly on behalf of FAMB members and mortgage brokers across the country. In his most recent testimony, he represented NAMB before the House Committee on Financial Services speaking about Licensing and Registration in the Mortgage Industry.

Joe was also instrumental in creating and presenting the NAMB Model Good Faith Estimate to HUD during the RESPA Round Tables.

FAMB Helps with Hurricane Relief Effort

At the recent quarterly Board of Directors meeting of the Florida Association of Mortgage Brokers, FAMB voted to contribute $15,000 to the NAMB Hurricane Relief Fund. The Fund was established by NAMB to provide financial assistance to NAMB members who have experienced extreme loss from the devastating impact of Hurricane Katrina. Many have lost their homes, their livelihoods, and for some, far worse. In addition to the $15,000 contributed by FAMB, individual Chapters increased the total contribution to over $20,000.

In addition to financial support, the FAMB Gulf Coast Chapter paid a visit to the Mississippi area to aid and assist the survivors of Hurricane Katrina. Through cash donations, the chapter was able to purchase the supplies and food necessary to make the trek to the devastated Gulf Coast region.

Alan Greenspan speaks about the "Bubble"

Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan, speaking to the American Bankers Association Annual Convention in Palm Desert, California, somewhat softened his concerns about a possibly overheated housing market. Speaking via satallite on September 26, Greenspan said many homeowners have enough equity to cushion the shock if prices drop. He did, however, register concerns about borrowers taking out risky mortgages to buy expensive homes that they otherwise couldn't afford. But he indicated that most homeowners were in a fairly good position in the event that house prices drop.
