SEPTEMBER AWARDS & INSTALLATION MEETING

Join FAMB Central Florida Chapter for our annual Awards and Installation Banquet. This is your opportunity to thank the committee chairs and volunteers that have made this year a success. The new officers and directors will be installed. We have some "special" awards to be given away to those attendees who made the year "special". Did you do something to get recognized or did you draw attention to yourself without realizing it? We noticed and plan to 'reward' you! Who will be "Broker of the Year", "Affiliate of the Year"?

The meeting takes place at our usual location, the Bahia Shrine Temple in Maitland. Networking and Registration is from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm. The Social Hour Sponsored will be sponsored. The Awards & Installation Banquet begins at 6:30 pm. The meeting including dinner is FREE to Professional Members, $10.00 for Supporter Members and $15.00 for Non- Members.

OCTOBER 3rd GOLF TOURNAMENT

Our Tournament is a sure sell-out, as usual! If you want to get a foursome, or for affilitates who want to sponsor a hole, get on board today. All registration forms must be sent by mail or delivered in person to Derrick Sims or Fran Eskew.

NEW YORK TIMES LAUDS HUD PROPOSED RULE

In an unsurprising Editorial, the New York Times issued an encomium of Mel Martinez' efforts to reform the mortgage process through the Hud Rule originally proposed 13 months ago this week. Every mortgage broker in the country should read this article and respond with a letter to the editor. Especially note the snide last line which derides "the rigors of competition".

NAMB PRESIDENT RESPONDS TO NY TIMES

Namb President AW Pickel didn't waste any time responding to the NY Times Editorial. His comments will be familiar to mortgage brokers, but they are worth reading, nonetheless. His two-page response is available on a PDF page.

DEADLINE TO RENEW MORTGAGE BROKER LICENSE

In case you didn't know, individual Mortgage Broker Licenses expire on midnight August 31, 2003. You must renew your mortgage broker License before the deadline or you will face a steep reactivation fee.

If you have waited to the last minute, you're in luck. The Department has an online renewal page so that you can handle this all from the comfort of your office or home. (Make sure you've completed your continuing education requirement.) Renew online.
