Beginning January 1, 2004 financial institutions, including mortgage brokers, are required to collect additional data from loan applicants. Central Florida FAMB will help you to find out about the requirements, what they mean, why they are there. Jim Glendinning, ASAIC, from the US Secret Service will address our meeting and answer your questions.

CAPITOL REPORT: FAMB LOBBY DAYS

FAMB lobbied in Tallahassee on March 17 and 18, then travelled to Washington, DC on March 22 - 24. We met with legislators and regulators who directly affect the mortgage industry and our livelihood. See photos of the folks who took time out to represent your interests with our government officials.

NEW HUD SECRETARY ALPHONSO JACKSON OFFICALLY TAKES OFFICE
|
It's no coincidence that days after HUD withdrew its proposed rule to reform RESPA, the Senate Banking Committee withdrew its objections to the nomination of Alphonso Jackson as HUD Secretary. On April 1 Jackson became the nation's highest-ranking housing official and the 13th Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development
Jackson replaceed Secretary Mel Martinez, under whose leadership the ill-fated RESPA Rule was first proposed in July of 2002. Martinez resigned last December so he could return to Florida to run for the Senate against Bill McCullum and a host of other challengers. Learn More.
