FAMB Lobby Days in Tallahassee a Huge Success

Over 100 members of FAMB attended the recent Legislative Conference in Tallahassee. They met and discussed pending legislation, raised over $13,000 for our PAC fundraiser, and meet with dozens of state legislators.

FAMB has a recognized political presence in Tallahassee as a result of the diligence of our lobbyists, the focus of our leadership, and the strength and commmitment of our membership. View photos from the conference at the link below.

National Predatory Lending Legislation Introduced in Washington, D.C.

Two bills have been introduced in the US House of Representatives to combat predatory lending and impose additional requirements on on the mortgage origination process.

* HR 1295 - Responsible Lending Act
* HR 1182 - Prohibit Predatory Lending Act

The FAMB executive committee and Government Affairs Committee are monitoring the progress of these bills as they move through committee. For either to become law, they would have to be voted in the Senate, but so far, neither bill has a Senate companion bill.

To read the text of one of these bills, go to Thomas Legislative Information and put in HR1295 or HR1182.

The NAMB legislative conference will take place in Washington DC on April 10 - 13. Over 50 members of FAMB are expected to attend. While there, they will be meeting with Florida's 25 Representatives and 2 Senators and discussing these and other important issues. To find out more, view the conference schedule on NAMB's website at the link below.
