February Meeting Review - Pictures

Florida Division of Financial Services Bureau Chief Bob Tedcastle spoke to FAMB on February 8. Among other things, he advised the membership in attendance that, in many cases, wholesale reps are required to comply with continuing education requirements under FS 494.

According to a recent article in the online version of the Tampa Tribune, Florida's Division of Financial Services (DFS) is looking into referral fees paid by title companies to real estate agents and brokers. Since the DFS doesn't regulate real estate licensees, they are trying to coordinate with the Division of Professional Regulation (DBPR).

A representative from DBPR quoted in the article said it was LEGAL under Florida law for real estate agents to accept "inducements". RESPA may have a different view of the practice. Read the full text of the article at link below.
