Home Builders House over 100,000 in Orlando

More than 105,000 housing professionals gathered in Orlando from January 11 - 14 for the 2006 International Builders’ Show (IBS). This year’s show filled the Orange County Convention Center with over 960,000 square feet of exhibits showcasing products and services aimed specifically at the residential and light commercial construction industries. The four-day expo began Jan. 11 with Grand Opening Ceremonies headlined by former Secretary of State Colin Powell.

According to Kenneth Harney, a nationally syndicated writer on real estate and mortgage financing, the biggest question facing builders in the next 20 years is: "Where will the baby boomers want to move when and if they sell the homes where they have raised their families?" Since Florida is one of the top retirement destinations in the country, we should be especially interested in what Boomers want and where they will go when they retire.
