Guide to the 2004 Election
We are just beginning the actual election season and things are really heating up. The Central Florida Chapter of FAMB has put together a series of links to the information you need when making informed choices about voting.

  • Find out who is running and what district they are in. This link to the State of Florida's Elections Online will enable you to pull up elections for candidates from the President on down to the County Public Defender. Bear in mind, these candidates are those who are competing in Florida. For national information, you can also check out the FAMB Government Affairs page.

  • View the Florida Election Calendar from the Florida Department of State. For a great review of the primary season and the election process, check out The Green Papers.

  • Investigate the Parties. While our two party system pretty much dominates national politics, there is a little more room for third parties in local elections. Here are links to:
    The Florida Republican Party
    The Florida Democratic Party
    The Florida Libertarian Party
    The Florida Green Party

  • If you want to participate in the political process there are lots of ways to do it. The first is of course to VOTE ON NOVEMBER 2nd! To register to vote, or to change your party affiliation, you must file with your county's Supervisor of Elections at least 29 days prior to the election. Here are the sites for the Supervisors of Elections in Central Florida:
    Lake County
    Orange County
    Osceola County
    Polk County
    Seminole County
    Volusia County

You can also contribute financially to a candidate's campaign or to your association's Political Action Committee. Talk to co-workers, friends, family about why this election is important to you and to your business. You can also display campaign signs on your property, bumper sticker on your car, or put brochures in your office.
